William Turner (1862-1942) was born in Hyde, Cheshire, the son of William and Margaret Turner. Turner enlisted into the Northumberland Fusiliers at Newcastle-on-Tyne on 17/8/1883. At the time of enlistment he was 21 years old and gave his trade as labourer. Turner never rose above the rank of Private and transferred to the Army Reserve on 17/5/1891. The IGS with Hazara 1888 clasp was Turner’s sole medal entitlement.
