COLOUR SERGEANT P. DUNNE, 1ST BATTALION ROYAL IRISH REGIMENT. Queen’s South Africa Medal, type 3 reverse, wreath points to “F” of AFRICA, 2 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, officially impressed (2179 Colour Sergeant, 1st Battalion Royal Irish Regiment). Top two clasps loose on ribbon, bruise to obverse rim at 7 o’clock, otherwise Good Very Fine.

Scarce award to a Colour Sergeant.

Medal accompanied by photocopied extract from Medal Roll, dated Lydenburg 25/7/1901, confirming clasps and service with 1st Battalion, and initially noting that recipient had by that date “transferred home” (probably time expired).
