CORPORAL WILLIAM GARDNER, 61ST (SOUTH GLOUCERSTERSHIRE) REGIMENT (THE POST 1880 2ND BATTALION GLOUCESTERSHIRE REGIMENT). Punjab Medal 1848-49, 1 clasp, Goojerat (officially named, impressed in serifed block capitals: Wm. GARDNER: 61st. FOOT.). Brooch mount removed from obverse, leaving two small light patches of solder at edge of obverse field at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock, some scattered light contact marks to obverse and reverse rim, possibly from contact with other medal(s), otherwise attractively toned and Good Very Fine to Almost Extremely Fine, and with a length of original ribbon.

Medal accompanied by copied extract from original medal roll, confirming medal and Goojerat clasp only. Scarce as a single clasp medal.
