Service number indicates enlistment circa November 1961. Kingston would thus have seen service in Northern Ireland during the early years of “Troubles”, following the deployment of the first army units to Northern Ireland in 1969.

All three battalions of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers saw service in Northern Ireland for the first time during the early 1970s, the 1st Battalion’s first tour of duty being from 16/6/1970 to 22/10/1970 in Belfast (Shankill and Lower Falls districts), the 2nd Battalion from 19/10/1971 to 16/2/1972 in Belfast (New Lodge and Unity districts) and the 3rd Battalion from 27/1/1972 to 22/5/1972 in Dungannon. All three battalions also saw numerous other deployments in Northern Ireland in the following years.
