FOUR IRISH LATE 18TH/EARLY 19TH CENTURY KEANE FAMILY SILVER PLATED LIVERY BUTTONS, family crest to obverse depicting a stag standing to left on top of a cap (chapeau, a stag passant, proper), hollow backed, 27 mm, single loop to rear for wearing, by Croker of Dame Street, Dublin. Minor rubbing to high points, otherwise good condition.
The crest is that of the Densy, Fortune, Keane, Mallard, Northcote and Parker families, only one of which is recorded in Fairbarn’s “Crests of the Families of Britain and Ireland” as having an Irish connection, the Keanes.
