LIEUTENANT (LATER MAJOR) H. E. REDMAN, 6TH BATTALION ROYAL WARWICKSHIRE REGIMENT (2ND WARWICKSHIRE MILITIA), LATER 1ST BATTALION 99TH DECCAN INFANTRY, INDIAN ARMY. Queen’s South Africa Medal, 4 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal, South Africa 1901 (renamed, contemporary re-engraved naming, in plain block capital letters: LIEUT. H.E. REDMAN. 6TH. BN. ROYAL WARWICKSHIRE REGT.). Good Very Fine.

Medal accompanied by biographical details, copied extracts 1908, 1919 and 1924 Indian Army Lists and copied QSA Medal rolls (4) which confirm medal and clasps, and that Lieutenant H.E. Redman saw service during the South African War initially with the 6th Battalion Royal Warwickshire Regiment and subsequently attached to the 2nd Battalion Royal Warwickshire Regiment.

Harry Eastland Redman(1880-1950) was born in Brighton, Sussex, 9/2/1880. He was first commissioned 2nd Lieutenant 5/1/1901 and was promoted Lieutenant 8/2/1905. Redman transferred to the Indian Army on 15/5/1905 with the rank of Lieutenant, seeing service with the 1st Battalion 99th Deccan Infantry, being promoted Major, 20/10/1915. Major Redman died in Strabane, county Tyrone, Northern Ireland, on 3/1/1950.

Indian Army List, January 1924, confirms service in South Africa 1900-1902, and Queen’s Medal with 4 clasps, and that recipient transferred to the Indian Army, taking part in the Mahsud operations, 2nd March – 8th April 1917, and the operations in Iraq, 15th April – 9th June 1917.
