Medal accompanied by copied biographical and service details from FIBIS and extract from Chelsea Pensioner admission record, along with medal roll extract confirming medal and 2 clasps, and that medal was “sent to India 20 Decr. 51”.

Henry Ward, born circa 1815 in Bethnall Green, London, enlisted into the 1st Bombay European Regiment at Dublin on 23/4/1836 for unlimited service. At the time of enlistment Ward gave his trade as carpenter. He sailed for India aboard the “Boyne”, arriving there in 1836. Ward was pensioned after seeing 22 years and 7 months service with the colours, on 6/7/1859 (pension backdated to commence 28/6/1859), receiving a pension of 1 shilling per day, paid initially in East London and later in the parish of St. Georges in the East, London.
