Private Wilkinson was killed in action on 19/5/1917.

Medal accompanied by copied Medal Index card, WW1 medal roll and Soldiers Died details, which confirm that Wilkinson initially saw service with the 7th Battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers before transferring to the 1st Battalion. He was killed in action on 19/5/1917, whilst serving with the 1st Battalion.

John Wilkinson was born at Newbottle, Co. Durham. He enlisted into the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers at Shiney Row, Tyne and Wear. He was the brother of Edward Wilkinson of 10 Bell Street, Penshaw, Co. Durham. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Arras Memorial.

Private Wilkinson was also entitled to the Victory Medal.
