SERGEANT JOSEPH KILLACKEY, 31st (HUNTINGDONSHIRE) REGIMENT (THE POST 1880 1ST BATTALION EAST SURREY REGIMENT). Sutlej Medal 1845-46, Moodkee 1845 reverse, 3 clasps, Sobraon, Aliwal, Ferozeshuhur (renamed, engraved in plain block capitals: JOSEPH KILLACKEY 31st. REGT.). Clasps listed in order fitted, attractively toned, Almost Extremely Fine.

Medal accompanied by extract published Sutlej Medal roll confirming medal and clasps and that Killackey saw service during the Sutlej campaign as 1857 Private.

Medal also accompanied by copied extracts Crimea Medal rolls confirming that Killackey saw service in the Crimea as a Sergeant with the 31st Foot (also entitled Crimea Medal with Alma, Inkermann and Sebastopol clasps).

The 31st Foot were extensively engaged during the Sutlej campaign, suffering over 157 casualties at Moodkee, 18/12/1845, 61 killed and 102 wounded at Ferozeshuhur, 21st – 22nd December 1845, one killed and 15 wounded at Aliwal, 28/1/1846, and 35 killed and 119 wounded at Sobraon, 10/2/1846.
