Queen’s South Africa Medal 1899-1902, type 2, 6 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Johannesburg, Diamond Hill, Belfast, South Africa 1901 (officially named, impressed in block capitals: 2134 Pte. E. WILSON, COLDSTM: GDS :). Scattered minor rim nicks and edge bruises, pawnbroker’s mark lightly scratched in obverse field behind Queen’s head, otherwise Good Very Fine.

Medal accompanied by 6 pages copied service papers, and copied medal roll extracts, confirming medal and clasps.

Ernest Wilson was born in Salford, Manchester. He enlisted into the Coldstream Guards in 1896. At the time of enlistment Wilson was 19 years and 4 months old. Wilson never rose above the rank of Private whilst serving with the Coldstream Guards and was discharged medically unfit on 6/6/1903. Wilson re-enlisted following the outbreak of WW1 and saw service with the Military Foot Police in France and Flanders, embarking for France on 3/6/1915 and seeing service in France as a Lance Corporal / Acting Provost Marshal until he was invalided to England on 19/4/1919.
